It...I have always had a soft spot for this film. It's a bit silly, yes, but that's true of more than one swashbuckler! I must be strictly honest, and admit that Rock Hudson was not necessarily the finest actor on the block (he did better in more serious films), but boy did he look the part for roles like this. He's great here, and I'm glad he didn't bother to attempt any kind of an accent. Plenty of buckles swashing, plenty of dashing about in boats, a nicely despicable bad guy - you can't ask for a whole lot else from a film like this. It might lack that 'something special' that you get from the real gems in the genre, but it's fun. Nice to see it get a mention somewhere. It's not terribly well known.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
