The title makes it sound as if it's judging Lamarr's character right from the start, so I began thinking up alternative titles in my mind as I watched it ("Disobedient Lady" seems more apt, at certain points, or "Disenchanted Lady," perhaps?). Ultimately, though, you're right that it's meant ironically. This is definitely a film I'll watch again, and hopefully one of the noir archivists can get a hold of it to improve the quality soon. (Amazon currently has it available for streaming, and some of the quieter scenes sound as if an airplane is flying into the film somewhere...).Laura Roberts @ Buttontapper Presshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03716439129745683442noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7185482420929995617.post-41395460326102168502016-01-13T15:12:49.401+11:002016-01-13T15:12:49.401+11:00Thanks so much for this thoughtful review. Thanks so much for this thoughtful review.Senseihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16497048849870780216noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7185482420929995617.post-48659901792582789952012-08-13T08:52:21.726+10:002012-08-13T08:52:21.726+10:00Personally, the woman was dropped dead gorgeous an...Personally, the woman was dropped dead gorgeous and no one ever took her acting seriously. They went to see that beautiful face that deserved the most beautiful woman of the century ..though there were quite a few she made that i thought she was very good in..particularly. "H. M. Pulham, esg." and "The Strange Woman" to mention a couple.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06384845419371377184noreply@blogger.com
