I assume there must be some rights issues that have prevented this from happening. Robert Taylor was on fire in the 50s, giving so many dark complex performances.dfordoomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02306293859869179118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7185482420929995617.post-8966885507657172582023-10-24T01:45:07.934+11:002023-10-24T01:45:07.934+11:00I watched this movie because George Raft was in it...I watched this movie because George Raft was in it. Raft did his usual impeccable work as the very capable actor that he was. I was surprised at Taylor’s flawless performance as well. Anne Francis was convincing in her role as a “lush.” I can’t fault with Janet Leigh’s performance but the other actors outshone her. All in all a very good noirish film and certainly worth watching.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7185482420929995617.post-32003385694361766782018-06-04T01:11:10.338+10:002018-06-04T01:11:10.338+10:00I love this movie! I wish this film would get some love.

I'm a big fan of 50s Robert Taylor. Pretty boy Taylor never did anything for me. He's seriously good in his later films. Very convincing.

The entire cast here is good, and I'm not even a fan of Raft. The only thing I didn't like was the very rushed ending. It's such a wonderfully weary performance.dfordoomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02306293859869179118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7185482420929995617.post-73626571985569457192018-06-03T00:48:55.182+10:002018-06-03T00:48:55.182+10:00This film is a cult classic here in France: anothe...This film is a cult classic here in France: another instance of you displaying "European" movie tastes (I intend this as a compliment)

Robert Taylor I think deserves greater credit than he is usually given for as one of the few matinee idols of the time that actually took risks. His filmography, especially from the 40s onwards, is filled with ambiguous, difficult and sometimes downright unlikeable characters. He also died pretty often, more often than most contemporary leading men, and some of his choices were very daring - I'm thinking in particular of Anthony Mann's Devil's Doorway or William Wellman's Westward the Women where his is basically a supporting role) Xavierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05702919450638993709noreply@blogger.com
